Information and Decision Systems at Draper promote the collaborative use of machine processing and human cognition to extract meaningful information from raw data, enhance the understanding of complex, dynamic processes, and support improved decision-making across a range of applications and missions. We integrate an optimized combination of human and machine intelligence for specific tasks or challenges, including information extraction, representation, sense-making applications, and decision support.
Through novel approaches in fusion and modeling of physiometric signals, optimized tasking and collection management, and Integrated human-system modeling & analysis, we can provide comprehensive systems solutions for robust planning and tasking, human signals analysis, and human-system collaboration.
Complex Dynamic Systems Draper has developed real-time mission planning and decision tools for optimal management of multiple sensor systems and other assets. Draper’s tools enable optimal planning against prioritized collection requirements and rapid replanning to support new or ad hoc requirements. These tools can provide a “negotiated” solution when the planner does not have direct control of the sensor assets.
Human Signals and Systems Draper is engaged in cutting-edge research for collecting, processing, analyzing, and modeling human physiology data. This capability has applications in medicine, psychometrics, security applications, and human-machine collaboration. We are actively studying Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), detection of deception and malintent, novel biometrics, and modeling of cognitive state.
Human-System Collaboration Draper’s Human-System Collaboration (HSC) capability encompasses a set of technologies and methods that are applied to enable effective human interaction with complex, dynamic systems based on the operational context, workflow and the users’ cognition. The subcapabilities include user driven design, integrated human-system modeling, human supervisory control, and visual analytics. We have applied HSC to address a variety of sponsor needs, including soldier systems, large-scale analysis and visualization, targeting, and lunar landing systems.
Multisource Analysis and Pattern Discovery How can useful information and meaningful patterns get extracted from extremely large amounts of multisourced data? Draper is developing advanced signal processing, data mining, and pattern discovery techniques for a range of applications.
