ExoPlanetSat is a 3-Unit (1 unit is 10cm x 10 cm x 10 cm) Cubesat space telescope prototype designed to monitor a single nearby, bright star from low-earth orbit for signs of potential earth-like planets. It will observe the star for characteristic dips in stellar brightness. Draper is building the satellite in partnership with MIT. We are responsible for avionics, including a two-stage pointing and control architecture that combines 3-axis reaction wheels for arcminute level coarse pointing and a piezoelectric translation stage at the focal plane for fine image stabilization at the arcsecond level.
