Draper IQMS Initiatives
Draper Laboratory is currently modifying its Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS) to make it CMMI compliant. CMMI®, or Capability Maturity Model Integration, is a set of recognized best practices which covers the entire program or project life-cycle. Unlike many other models, CMMI® has been developed to ensure program activities such as Program Management, Systems Engineering, Software Development and Hardware are fully integrated. Draper’s IQMS has long been ISO compliant.
Process tailoring has been a key focus of Draper’s efforts to modify its Integrated Quality Management System. Each program, based upon its attributes, is now required to follow a tailored set of process requirements. These tailored process requirements are intended to maximize cost benefit to the program resulting in reductions. As expected; larger, more complex and more critical programs are required to employ a more rigorous process while smaller research or analysis programs require the use of a minimal set of standard processes. |
