Building on our roots in guidance, navigation, and control, Draper is breaking new ground in the fields of signal processing, sensing, electronics, microelectronics packaging, mission-critical fault-tolerant computing,and complex system development and integration.In Secure Networks and Communications, we draw from these core capabilities and Draper’s unique relationship with the world’s top universities to develop breakthrough technologies and systems to solve critical national problems in secure sensing, information processing, and reliable, disruption-tolerant communications for potentially hostile environments.
Our technical leadership position has enabled us to develop a first-of-a-kind secure, microsoftware-defined radio, which has applications in secure video streaming for unmanned systems in which information integrity and privacy are of paramount importance. As a research and development laboratory, Draper invests in significant internal R&D to reduce advanced concepts to practice.Our work in microsoftware radios began as an internally-funded effort to explore new architectures and advanced commercial chip sets for such applications.
In a newly emerging field, Draper is developing applied technology derived from compressive sensing theory; this technology is expected to advance the development of even smaller, lower power systems for sensing, communications, and encryption. Other areas of expertise include protocols for communications in disruptive networks, usable security for wireless networks, and the use of our advanced packaging capabilities to develop secure systems of unprecedented size and capability.
