Draper Announces New Directors, Members of Corporation
Draper Laboratory welcomed two new members to its board of directors, and four new members to the corporation at its annual meeting on Oct. 6.
“These officials have all served as senior leaders in government, the U.S. military, industry, and academia,” said Jim Shields, Draper president and chief executive officer. “Their expertise and leadership experience in sectors including defense, intelligence, space, and energy will help Draper build on its successes and develop new initiatives in support of national interests.”
The new directors are:
Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Frank H. Akers, Jr.: president and chief executive officer of Oak Ridge Strategies Group, Inc., and former associate laboratory director for national security at Oak Ridge National Laboratory;
Daniel E. Hastings, Massachusetts Institute of Technology dean for undergraduate education and professor of engineering systems and aeronautics and astronautics; and former U.S. Air Force chief scientist.
The new members of the corporation are:
Retired U.S. Air Force Major General Craig R. Cooning, vice president and general manager of space and intelligence systems for Boeing Defense, Space & Security, and former director of space acquisition in the Office of the Undersecretary of the Air Force;
Retired U.S. Air Force General Michael V. Hayden, principal, Chertoff Group, and former director of the Central Intelligence Agency;
Joanne M. Maguire, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, and chair of the board of directors for United Launch Alliance;
Richard T. Roca, director emeritus, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory
