U.S. Army Brigadier General Reim Visits Draper Headquarters, Tours Combat Solutions Center

CAMBRIDGE, MA—Draper recently hosted Army Brigadier General John Reim for a tour of the company’s R&D centers and a discussion of the company’s innovation, research and development of combat solutions for warfighters.

Reim serves as Picatinny Arsenal Commanding General and head of the Joint Program Executive Office for Armaments and Ammunition. JPEO A&A is an organization with a key role in the Army modernization with its broad scope of responsibilities and systems that deliver lethal armaments and ammunition to warfighters.

Reim underscored the value to the nation for organizations like Draper to enable the JPEO A&A to fulfill its mission of rapidly fielding dominating capabilities to the warfighter. “Soldiers need rapid development and prototyping of new capabilities to keep pace with the highly adaptable adversaries and complex operating environments they frequently face. Draper is a valued partner in that effort.”

Reim also praised Draper for its continued leadership as a partner to the U.S. Army. “The Army is committed to partnerships that enable us to tap into innovation in the latest technologies and capabilities,” Reim said. “Draper has demonstrated a special ability to unlock innovation. The capabilities developed by partners like Draper enable the Army to respond to emergent readiness demands while also enabling technology insertion opportunities for our armaments and ammunition modernization efforts.”

The Brigadier General visited Draper’s R&D center for Combat Solutions and was briefed on Draper’s capabilities in precision guided munitions, warfighter systems, rapid prototyping and systems for operating in contested environments.

Draper has supported the U.S. military’s mission for more than 85 years, developing capabilities to protect and defend our nation. Draper’s contributions to the U.S. Army include capabilities in cybersecurity, technology protection and miniature cryptography for high stress environments.

Recent developments include gun-hardened guidance and electronics units, guided medium caliber munitions and advanced artillery systems and submunitions. For many years, Draper has also contributed to the development of the Joint Precision Airdrop System (JPADS), an autonomous airborne resupply system that leverages advanced technology to accurately deliver supplies at precise locations anywhere in the world.

Draper Combat Solutions develops and advances new technologies, builds the first prototypes and conducts field tests and operational demonstrations.
