AIAA Honors Draper Engineers as 2019 Associate Fellows

CAMBRIDGE, MA—The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) elected Draper engineers Pete Paceley and Daniel Keating as Associate Fellows for 2019. The AIAA will formally induct the class at its 2019 AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition in San Diego Jan. 7.

The distinction is awarded to individuals who are AIAA Senior Members with at least 12 years of professional experience, outstanding work or contributions to the field of aeronautics or astronautics and recommendations from at least three current Associate Fellows. AIAA is the largest aerospace technical society in the world.

Pete Paceley is business area lead for human spaceflight and exploration systems and general manager of Draper’s Huntsville, Alabama, office. He is responsible for the company’s programs at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Arsenal. A former vice president at SPACEHAB Incorporated, Paceley has been active with the AIAA Space Logistics Technical Committee since 2005, serving as former committee chairman and vice chairman, and currently serves on the board of directors for the National Space Club Huntsville. He is a graduate of Auburn University and the recipient of several awards from NASA.

Daniel Keating is Draper’s program manager for model-based engineering and product lifecycle management. At Draper, he has served in senior technical and leadership roles on the company’s strategic-grade guidance system program and led tasks for applications including strategic missiles, precision-guided munitions and unmanned underwater vehicles. A graduate of Tufts University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Keating is chair of the AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technical Committee.

Paceley and Keating are two of 123 Associate Fellows elected for 2019. AIAA brings together government, industry and academia to advance aerospace engineering and science in both civil and defense fields.
