Draper Aerospace Engineer Brandon Stiltner Named AIAA Associate Fellow

CAMBRIDGE, MA—The world’s largest aerospace technical society elected Brandon Stiltner, an aerospace engineer at Draper, as one of its Associate Fellows.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Associate Fellows “exemplify passion and dedication to advancing the aerospace profession and were selected because of their significant and lasting contributions to the field,” according to the AIAA website.

AIAA brings together industry, academia and government to advance engineering and science in aviation, space and defense.

Stiltner is one of 134 Associate Fellows elected for 2021. He is a member of the Greater Huntsville Section of the AIAA, and sits on the AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technical Committee. Stiltner will be inducted at the AIAA SciTech Forum in January.

Stiltner has more than 13 years of experience in the areas of flight dynamics and control, modeling and simulation, testing and analysis. He is currently the controls task lead for the Dynetics-led team of the Human Landing System (HLS), a program slated to return humans to the surface of the moon.

Stiltner, who achieved this award as an AIAA Young Professional, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech in 2007 and 2011, respectively.

No more than one Associate Fellow for each 150 voting member of the organization is elected each year.

Draper is a corporate member of the AIAA.
