Draper Hosts Commanding General of United States Army Special Operations Command

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Draper recently hosted Lieutenant General Jonathan P. Braga and officials from the U.S. Special Operations Command for a discussion of the company’s efforts to enhance the nation’s capacity for innovation, research and development of advanced systems for national security.

Sarah Leeper, vice president and general manager of Electronic Systems at Draper, said, “We are truly honored to host LTG Braga and his team, and provide the latest on our programs and capabilities that support U.S. Special Operations Forces.”

Draper has supported the U.S. military’s mission for more than 85 years.

The meeting focused on Draper’s expertise in microelectronics, biotechnology, space systems and mechanical and autonomous systems, and included presentations and demonstrations led by Draper’s technical staff. Specific applications of these technologies include: 

• Trusted and assured microelectronics to address contested environments requiring cyber security, physical security and radiation-hardened systems for military use.
• Biotechnology systems that integrate precision engineering, life sciences and physics to address the biosecurity and biomedical needs of the nation.
• Space Systems technologies that support military missions from near-Earth to Cis-lunar environments and capabilities including rendezvous and proximity operations and autonomous systems for spacecraft, habitats and robotic explorers.
• Mechanical and autonomous systems technology, including robotics, guided projectiles and hypersonics alternative navigation.

Draper’s contributions to national defense extend beyond these areas to include the development of inertial guidance systems for ballistic missile applications and space missions; autonomous guidance, navigation & control systems for unmanned underwater vehicles; highly reliable computing systems for undersea, air and space vehicles; miniature electromechanical systems for guided munitions; and biodefense and biosecurity applications.
