Draper Achieves CMMC Level 2 Certification
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Draper today announced it has received its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 third-party assessment certification. The CMMC is a unified cybersecurity standard developed by the Department of War (DoW) to protect sensitive information within the defense industrial base. CMMC certification is a mandatory requirement for DoW contracting opportunities handling sensitive unclassified data.
"The Level 2 certification represents a significant achievement in Draper's cybersecurity maturity and reinforces our commitment to national security," said Jennifer Doherty, Chief Security Officer and Chief Information Officer at Draper. "The certification process was a major operational, financial, and cultural undertaking and the many employees and functions that made this critical certification possible deserve recognition."
The CMMC was designed to ensure DoW contractors have adequate cybersecurity practices and processes in place. It is through this program that the DoW verifies a contractor’s ability to protect the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Federal Contract Information (FCI) within the DoW supply chain system.
Level 2 certification involves intermediate cybersecurity practices aligned with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP 800-171, required for handling CUI. Compliance requires meeting requirements of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) clause 252.204-7012 for CUI.
While the DoW has paused some aspects of the CMMC program rollout, contractors have been advised to remain informed about the latest requirements, guidelines, and implementation timelines.
